EU Capital of Culture Meeting Call for Galway’s Dance Community

1pm April 16, 2015
Galway Chamber of Commerce, Merchant’s Road, Galway

Galway City Council is leading a bid for Galway to win European Capital of Culture designation in 2020, supported by County Council and a team from NUI Galway. As part of the bid process the team have begun an extensive public engagement process to contribute to Galway’s bid, which must be submitted on October 17th. Galway is competing with Dublin, Limerick and a South East bid from Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny.

A meeting to discuss the role of dance in the Capital of Culture bid, hosted by Galway Dance Project, will take place at 1pm on April 16th in the Galway Chamber of Commerce meeting rooms on Merchant’s Road.

Gaining Capital of Culture status will give Galway a unique opportunity to re-imagine and re-think the culture of our city and to connect with a much larger European community.
Dance and the dance community are already shaping the culture of the city we live in. In order to ensure that the dance community’s contribution is represented, we invite you to join us for this chaired discussion.

Our aim is to give voice to the dance community in the bid’s development process and to facilitate a deeper understanding of the Capital of Culture concept and the potential for Galway2020.

Places are strictly limited due to capacity.  To book your place, please e-mail us at by April 8th.
