Galway Dance Project is seeking a General Manager

An exciting, new position has arisen as General Manager with Galway Dance Project.

The position will be based in Galway and the appointee will need to be located in or close to Galway city. The appointed candidate will be required to be in Galway city on specific dates relating to programme delivery and will be supported by the Programme Director and the Board of Directors. There will be an initial introductory period in May 2017, with the role commencing proper in June 2017. It is expected that a time commitment of approximately one day per week will be required initially but this may grow to two days as the role and the project’s workload develops.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role requires the successful candidate to ensure the efficient operation and administration of Galway Dance Project and its programme. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • The smooth management and promotion of GDP’s dance classes, workshops and public events, which includes processing bookings, coordinating teachers and management of venues
  • Liaison with GDP’s artistic and project partners to deliver programme elements
  • Provision of support on European projects, particularly in relation to Galway2020, European Capital of Culture
  • Marketing and communications for GDP including, but not limited to, updating the website (WordPress), social media campaigns and distribution of e-newsletters
  • Represent GDP at meetings as required
  • Financial and company administration
  • Any other duties which may arise or which may be specified and agreed with the board

 Person Specification

  • A competent self-manager, with the ability to work on their own initiative with passion and drive and open to taking direction
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Google Drive and Dropbox
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • 1 – 2 years experience of working in the performing arts
  • A working knowledge of the dance sector in Galway/ Ireland is essential

Remuneration: Fee will be commensurate with experience. The contract will be for services provided and the successful candidate will be responsible for their own tax affairs.
