Bernadette Divilly photo by Elodie Rein 3In this two-day workshop participants will be introduced to contemplative dance practice. We will explore sanctuary allowing the dance find us. Solos will give expression to our dance and personal movement histories and influences. We will work on spontaneous compositions and maps of space. We will also work on group mind and the concept of village. Key elements in this work: Dharma Art, Somatic Intelligence, and Improvisation. This workshop is inspired by Barbara Dilley, mentor and author of ‘This Very Moment, Teaching Thinking Dancing’.

Please wear comfortable layers of clothing suitable for working outdoors as well as inside and bring a blanket, cushion, notebook, and pen.

Facilitator Bernadette Divilly works as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and Socially Engaged Choreographer in Galway. Her work includes a focus on Walking, Contemplative Dance, Dance Movement Therapy, Somatic Psychology, Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy and Urban Design. She thrives in collaborative, cutting edge projects that support deep understanding and embodiment. She has a passion for bringing dance knowledge and principles to the art of the ordinary. She is the originator of Dance Diversity and Walking Wisdom Woodquay. She has received numerous awards, including from The Arts Council Of Ireland for her reflective and imaginative work.
