Galway Culture Night 2014 &

Galway Dance Project present

An Evening of Free Dance Showings

The Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Lane (just off Quay St.), Galway

Friday September 19, 2014 6 – 8pm

To celebrate Culture Night, Galway Dance Project is delighted to present a series of free, informal dance showings at The Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Lane on Friday September 19th.

Beginning at 6pm, a number of Galway’s contemporary dance artists will perform excerpts of work in progress with live musical accompaniment where audience members will be invited to view the work, come and go as they please, ask questions or give feedback.

Off Beaten Path Dance will perform Clocks based on the power of manipulation and the isolation of anxiety with live musical accompaniment provided by Mister Ebby.  Magdalena Hylak will show Two Years Later, a solo piece exploring themes of possibilities and predictability within a structured period of time.  This movement exploration touches on a personal journey since the artist first solo ‘Detached’.

The showings will begin at 6pm and run until 8pm.  This is a perfect opportunity to develop a greater interest and understanding in contemporary dance practices and performance as well as a greater intimacy with the Galway based dance community.

As part of the evening, a reception will also be hosted by Galway Dance Project for Culture Night and to announce its forthcoming programme.  Refreshments will be provided in the foyer of the Mick Lally Theatre and attendees can enjoy a glass of wine together with their dance experience.

Doors open at 6pm.

6.10pm – Two Years Later, a new work in progress from Magdalena Hylak, followed by a Q&A

7.05pm – Clocks, a new work in progress from Off Beaten Path, followed by a Q&A

All showings are free and open to the public with guests invited to come and go as they wish and enjoy some of the light refreshments on offer.
