Workshop with Laura Murphy

March 2 @ 10:00 - 15:00

€10 – €15

Saturday 2nd March 10am-3pm

Laura Murphy is a choreographer, performer and teacher based in Ireland. She creates dance work that celebrates the beauty in ordinary things and exalts the mundane. Her work includes solo and ensemble pieces, large scale and socially engaged dance, as well as dance films, video installations and site-specific performances.

This workshop will explore the dynamic body (Eukinetics); participants will investigate their organic use of qualities and rhythms within their personal range of movement.

Movement material will be explored through set material and structured improvised tasks, with the aim to allow the dancer discover a deeper clarity in their approach to movement qualities, rhythm and space within their dance.

The workshop will explicate elements of movement structure based on Choreological Studies (CS) and theories of Rudolf Laban. As choreographers and movers in 2019 we will challenge how this relates to our own practice and to that of a performer today.
