Speckled Egg Dance Company

Speckled Egg Dance Company provides opportunities for learning disabled dancers to develop their technical dance skills and independent choreographic practice at a semi-professional level. Based at NUI Galway, Speckled Egg train and make dance work together, in collaboration with dance practitioner Rachel Parry. The company’s technical focus is primarily contemporary dance, including Release Technique and Contact Improvisation. Speckled Egg’s firm focus is on making visible the artistic abilities and intelligent dance-making of the company members.

Speckled Egg’s practice is the focus of Rachel Parry’s practice-based PhD research at NUI Galway, which is investigating choreographic process and cognitive difference. Rachel trained as a dancer at Bretton Hall College (UK) and The Centre for New Dance Development (The Netherlands), before gaining an MA in Arts Policy and Practice at NUI Galway. She lectures in Choreographic Practice, Dance, Creative Process, and Dance History at NUI Galway.
